Royal Rumble in January is the jumping-off point or should we say the point where the Road to Wrestlemania officially begins. The 2021 WWE Royal Rumble Pay Per View will be unique in a number of ways. For the first time in history, the event will occur without any live audience behind closed doors. However, the WWE universe will feature in virtual capacity in the viewing experience, which WWE calls The Thunderdome.
If you are excited about this year’s Royal Rumble pay per view and wish to know everything related to it, then you have come to the right place. We will share everything there is to know, including information on the matches, venue, Royal Rumble match, and more.
Royal Rumble 2021 Event will take place at Tropicana Field in Tampa
The pay per view is probably the second most important event for both fans and the management of WWE. In the past years, the fans in attendance have made each and every moment worth it with their constant cheering, including surprise returns and shocking outcomes of the Royal Rumble match. However, it won’t be the case this time due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
Moreover, the event will take place with a virtual audience at Tropicana Field in Tampa, Florida on pay per view. Moreover, it doesn’t mean that we will not have the shock similar to the events of yesteryear. The show will begin with a kickoff show at 6 PM. The official proceedings will start around 7 Eastern Time on the WWE Network on 31st January 2021.
Everything About the Men and Women Royal Rumble 2021 Match
The 2021 WWE Royal Rumble is all about surprises. We have seen old faces return and new stars making an instant impact. We expect the same with this year’s Royal Rumble match. Daniel Bryan was the first superstar to announce his entry into the competition. There is also a strong chance that he could end up winning the Royal Rumble match and headline Wrestlemania against Roman Reigns. However, Bobby Lashley is another hot favorite and it is about time he gets what he deserves.
This year’s match will consist of 30 men utilizing the chance to become a part of the main event at Wrestlemania 37. Last week on RAW, Edge announced that he intends to participate in the match and win it to get the championship back, that he never lost. So far, 16 superstars from RAW and Smackdown have announced their participation. The names are as follows:
- Daniel Bryan
- Dolph Ziggler
- Sami Zayn
- Jeff Hardy
- Mustafa Ali
- Randy Orton
- AJ Styles
- Bobby Lashley
- Jey Uso
- The Miz
- John Morrison
- Big E
Our Prediction: Daniel Bryan – The Winner
As for the Women’s WWE Royal Rumble 2021 match, 30 female superstars will get the opportunity to headline WM37 at the Raymond James Stadium in April, 2021. Last year Charlotte Flair won the competition and she will enter the competition as a favorite. Former champions, the likes of Alexa Bliss and Bayley can also make a big impact. Wrestlers from both brands will participate and so far only 12 of them have announced their participation. We also expect former star such as Torrie Wilson, Lita, and Trish to surprise the WWE Universe.
The list is as follows:
- Charlotte Flair
- Ruby Riott
- Nia Jax
- Lacey Evans
- Shayna Baszler
- Liv Morgan
- Alexa Bliss
- Dana Brooke
- Bianca Belair
- Mandy Rose
- Peyton Royce
Our Prediction: Alexa Bliss – The Winner
Royal Rumble 2021 Match Card
Other than the hyped Royal Rumble matches, the remaining match card is something to look forward to as almost every title will be on the line. The Hurt Business could also defend their titles in the kick off show before the start of the event. The match card is as follows:
United States Championship – Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Riddle
For a couple of weeks, we have seen The Hurt Business starting a rivalry with Riddle with the latter on the receiving end of the Hurt Lock, more often than not. Moreover, there seems to be some misunderstanding between Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin. It is tough to predict the outcome of this match as Lashley is a favorite to win the Royal Rumble and retaining the US title could give him the momentum he needs to start the 30-man battle royale. However, there is a possibility of Riddle getting his first ever title win, which could also ignite the hunger for Lashley to enter the Royal Rumble 2021 match.
Intercontinental Championship – Big E (c) vs. Sami Zayn
Big E is on a roll recently and more precisely since his IC title win against Sami Zayn. The break from The New Day has brought a new side that we only saw in the earlier days of his career in the WWE. Sami Zayn will invoke his rematch clause at the Royal Rumble 2021 pay per view. However, we do not see him winning against Big E. Moreover, the current champion is ready to extend his title run till Wrestlemania 37 and beyond that.
Women’s Tag Team Championship – Asuka & Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler
The unlikely team of Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler lost their tag titles to Asuka and Flair in December at the TLC pay per view. Though it seemed that WWE creative were ready to break them up, they invoked their rematch clause and now will face Asuka and Flair. There is a chance that Ric Flair could interrupt the match and cause his Daughter to lose the match. Moreover, we expect some sort of participation from the likes of Lacey Evans.
Universal Championship – Roman Reigns (c) vs. Kevin Owens (Last Man Standing)
Roman Reigns is arguably the best heel from both Smackdown and RAW and enjoying the best run of his WWE career. His rivalry against Kevin Owens and the recent tussle against WWE official Adam Pearce has created some heated promos and caused Smackdown to become a better show than RAW. Reigns will face Kevin Owens once again for the Universal Championship in a Last Man Standing match.
We are in store for an epic and expect Jey Uso, Paul Heyman, and Adam Pearce to impact the result of the title match. Still, it is more than likely that Will won’t interfere with the plans of Reigns’ heel turn. It is why we expect Kevin Owens to lose the match.
WWE Championship – Drew McIntyre (c) vs. Goldberg
Leave it to WWE to keep the 90s nostalgia alive, whether in the form of a yearly Undertaker match or in this case, Goldberg’s return. He instantly bypassed the active storyline of McIntyre vs Sheamus and Keith Lee to challenge the champ for the WWE title at the Royal Rumble. Initially, McIntyre refused to accept Bill Goldberg’s challenge, but the thought of beating such a legend was too big to ignore. We expect McIntyre to defend the title successfully and continue his ongoing rivalry with superstars that are actively present every week.
The exciting match of the 2021 WWE Royal Rumble pay per view promises a night full of surprises and epic fights. From there, the road to WrestleMania 37 officially begins and we can’t wait to learn the outcomes. It could be an absolute blast if Edge returns to win the Royal Rumble match and headline Wrestlemania for one last time. However, the likes of Lashley and Bryan have the momentum to their side. We can’t wait for 31st January to come!
