The Shining Moments of 18th January 2021 Edition of WWE Monday Night RAW

If you missed 18th January 2021’s RAW, then there is no need to worry as we have got you covered. We have handpicked the notable moments of this week’s RAW that will make it as if you haven’t missed a single thing.

WWE Celebrated the Legacy of Martin Luther King

This week marked the 91st birthday of the US’s renowned civil rights activist Martin Luther King. The Raw episode of 18th January 2021 at WWE ThunderDome started with a 2-minute extended homage to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The footage followed some of MLK’s defining moments and lines from some of his inspirational speeches.

Randy Orton’s Opening Monologue on WWE RAW

We see Randy Orton backstage in the shadows in a Mil Mascaras-style mask. He began revisiting the previous week’s RAW events, where Alexa Bliss hurled a fireball into his eyes. Orton remembered how he dreaded showing compassion to Bliss three weeks prior and how it will never happen again. Moreover, he shared that the inescapable feeling of fire melting his flesh will never go away, not until he exacts his revenge.

What is Happening Between the Flairs and Lacey Evan?

We see Ric Flair and Lacey Evans are walking, interrupted by Charly Caruso. Though Evans didn’t like Charly’s questions, she was all praises for the two-time Hall of Famer, the Nature Boy. The WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Charlotte Flair Charlotte Flair soon followed the backstage rant to the ring when Peyton Royce ambushed her from behind.

However, the match soon started and was utterly dominated by Flair, resulting in her victory via submission. There is unclear what the end result of the rivalry will be, and to be fair to the WWE Universe, there is nothing new about the storyline that would prompt them to get up from their seats.

Xavier Woods without Kofi Kingston vs. RETRIBUTION’s Mace

This was by far the worst match of this week’s Monday Night RAW. There was no chemistry between the two opponents, and everything seemed more pushed than natural. Mace controlled the majority of the match against Woods fights up and dropkicks him in the knee. After a valiant effort from Woods, Mace hit him with a slam won by Pinfall.

Following the commercial break, WWE played the promo that revealed the dates for the next three Wrestlemanias, including Wrestlemania 37. You can learn more about the announcement by clicking here.

Alexa’s Playground with RAW’s Women Champion Asuka

The segment begins with Alexa Bliss making her entrance to the ring or, shall we say, her Playground. She talks a bit about Randy Orton and how things escalated, heated to be precise, suggesting the Viper a sunblock to remedy his burnt face. The one-half of the Tag Team Champions and Raw Women’s Champion Asuka was her guest, and the whole session went bizarre. Bliss also announced her participation In this year’s Royal Rumble match. This segment of Bliss’s Playground failed to build the hype for the following match between Asuka and Alexa Bliss.

WWE RAW Results: The Hurt Business means Business

The Hurt Business(Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin, and Cedric Alexander), managed by MVP, is a breath of fresh air in an otherwise horrible series of Monday Night RAW tapings. All members of the faction are champions, and that is what they displayed…A Champion performance in a six-man tag match against Lucha House Party and Riddle.

The Hurt Business dominated the whole match, but it was riddled with disputes between Alexander and Benjamin. In the end, Lashley hits a spear and won the match with the Hurt Lock. There are some signs of trouble between the group, and we hope that WWE does not break them up, given they are starting to find some success.

The Main Event of WWE RAW: Women’s Champion Asuka vs. Alexa Bliss

The start of the match between Bliss and Asuka looked promising. At the same time, Micheal Cole at the comms table foreshadowed that we could potentially be seeing the Wrestlemania 37 main event match. The lights around the ThunderDome started to flicker mid-match, which made Bliss elated. Before the commercial break, the light literally went off.

Moreover, we saw Alexa Bliss standing mid-ring in an entirely new get-up with black lipstick and dark clothes. She was soon able to pin the champion with the help of Sister Abigail finishing maneuver. The random win against the RAW Women’s champ could be early signs of WWE’s creative team’s plans for the superstar.

The Rest of the Match card of WWE RAW is as follows:

Shayna Baszler def. Mandy Rose via Submission: The former tag champs were about to break up but remembered that they are yet to receive their rematch for the titles against Asuka and Charlotte Flair, leaving them still intact as a team.

AJ Styles def. Ricochet: It was a below-par match with two of the best superstars the RAW brand has at its disposal. AJ Styles improvised with the Styles Clash, and it looked pleasing to the eye.

Jeff Hardy def. Jaxson Ryker via DQ: We are nothing but disappointed looked at Hardy and how the once WWE Champ has become nothing more than a jobber and a mid-carder to push mediocre opponents.
